SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine, April 2 -- Fairchild Semiconductor International has acquired I-Cube Inc., a designer of cross-point switches employed in Internet infrastructure, data communications, telecommunications, broadcast video, test equipment and digital signal processing.
"I-Cube's technology will add a further dimension to Fairchild's Interface portfolio, providing the 'switch' in opportunities for switch fabric interconnect. Their patented architecture allows I-Cube switches to serve multiple end applications, consistent with Fairchild's multimarket strategy of providing high-performance building block products," said Kirk Pond, president, CEO and chairman of the board of Fairchild Semiconductor.
"Fairchild will build upon the initial portfolio of high-density, general purpose cross-point switches to bring cost-effective, high value SFI building blocks to electronic applications," Pond said.
