Exosens to Acquire Noxant

Exosens has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Noxant, a developer of high-performance cooled infrared cameras, with an acquisition expected to be finalized in the coming months. The acquisition would add advanced cooled IR camera cores for OEM partners to Exosens' portfolio, particularly in the MWIR range. Noxant's offering support IR applications in surveillance, scientific research, and industrial testing as well as gas detection.

The proposed acquisition follows Exosens’ recent deals to acquire Night Vision Laser Spain (NVLS) and LR Tech as well as the company’s acquisition of Centronic earlier this year. The company’s prior acquisitions of Telops, Proxivision, El-mul, and Xenics came while Exosens was operating under the brand name Photonis. The company rebranded as Exosens last year.

Glossary
infrared
Infrared (IR) refers to the region of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than those of visible light, but shorter than those of microwaves. The infrared spectrum spans wavelengths roughly between 700 nanometers (nm) and 1 millimeter (mm). It is divided into three main subcategories: Near-infrared (NIR): Wavelengths from approximately 700 nm to 1.4 micrometers (µm). Near-infrared light is often used in telecommunications, as well as in various imaging and sensing...
machine vision
Machine vision, also known as computer vision or computer sight, refers to the technology that enables machines, typically computers, to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like the human visual system. It involves the development and application of algorithms and systems that allow machines to acquire, process, analyze, and make decisions based on visual data. Key aspects of machine vision include: Image acquisition: Machine vision systems use various...
mid-wave infrared
MWIR stands for mid-wave infrared, referring to a specific range of wavelengths within the infrared spectrum. Infrared radiation is categorized into three main regions based on wavelength: near-infrared (NIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR), and long-wave infrared (LWIR). The MWIR range typically spans from approximately 3 to 8 micrometers (μm). Key points about MWIR: Wavelength range: MWIR encompasses infrared wavelengths ranging from about 3 to 8 micrometers. This range is situated between...
