Energetiq Implements Clean Manufacturing
WOBURN, Mass., Sept. 27, 2010 — Ultrahigh brightness light source manufacturer Energetiq Technology Inc. announced recently that it has built a clean manufacturing facility at its Massachusetts location.
The 800 sq. ft. clean room will provide Class 1000 assembly capability to be used for optics assembly and manufacturing for the company’s Laser-Driven Light Source (LDLS) products. The reliable light sources provide broadband DUV, visible and NIR light for analytical applications that require ultra-long lamp life.
“Our new clean manufacturing space will give us the capability to assemble and test our optics in a particulate-free environment, leading to significantly higher performing light source products with extended lifetimes,” said Claire Brown, director of operations. “Not only will our new clean room allow us to improve efficiency and increase volume production on our current LDLS light source products, it will also enable us to take on additional projects that require contamination-free production processes.”
It is anticipated to help the company to continue to grow in the life sciences industry.

Glossary
- broadband
- Indicating a capability to deal with a relatively wide spectral bandwidth.
- infrared
- Infrared (IR) refers to the region of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than those of visible light, but shorter than those of microwaves. The infrared spectrum spans wavelengths roughly between 700 nanometers (nm) and 1 millimeter (mm). It is divided into three main subcategories:
Near-infrared (NIR): Wavelengths from approximately 700 nm to 1.4 micrometers (µm). Near-infrared light is often used in telecommunications, as well as in various imaging and sensing...
- light
- Electromagnetic radiation detectable by the eye, ranging in wavelength from about 400 to 750 nm. In photonic applications light can be considered to cover the nonvisible portion of the spectrum which includes the ultraviolet and the infrared.
- visible
- That term pertaining to the spectral region that can be perceived by the eye.
