In the UK, e2v technologies (uk) ltd. of Chelmsford and Brunel University of Uxbridge have established a research facility at the university dedicated to the development of technologies for electronic image sensing. Starting with its first doctoral students this academic year, the "e2v center for electronic imaging" will build on the company's expertise in CCD image sensor fabrication and the established relationship between the two entities. Research will focus on identifying new applications for e2v technology and on developing new products. E2v is investing up to £500,000 in the center over five years, and Brunel is funding three research lectureships and providing the facilities and equipment for the program.
