Elbit Wins $45.5M Contract for Night Targeting
Defense electronics company Elbit Systems Ltd. announced today that its wholly-owned US subsidiary, Elbit Systems of America LLC, received a $45.5 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division in Crane, Ind. for the supply of its Night Targeting System Upgrade (NTSU).
Its associated line items for the AH-1W Cobra helicopters are also under contract.
The NTSU system builds upon the company’s combat-proven Night Targeting System. With improvements in optics, it now allows the warfighter a significant increase in ability to detect, recognize, identify and prosecute targets at stand-off ranges in all weather and lighting conditions.
“Elbit Systems of America is pleased to provide this tactical targeting ability to the US Navy AH-1W team,” said Raanan Horowitz, president and CEO of the US company. “The NTSU enables extended target acquisition, recognition and engagement ranges and offers a critical and cost effective increase in survivability to the warfighter.”
Work for the contract will be performed in Merrimack, N.H and is expected to be completed over the next five years.
