Gary Harte, president of Edwards Korea Ltd., accepted the prize on behalf of the company. This is the fourth year that Edwards Korea has received an Export Tower Award, having met exports of $10 million in 2004, $20 million in 2006 and $50 million in 2007. Instituted by President Park Jung Hee in 1964, the awards are presented to companies that meet certain export goals in a single year. Once a company has received an award, it must reach the next-highest goal in a subsequent year to receive another award. This is the second South Korean award that Edwards has won in recent months, the company said. The first was the Bronze National Medal of Industrial Effort, which was given to JC Kim, representative director and chairman. The medal is given to an executive who for more than 10 years has made a significant contribution to the development of technology, quality, localization, labor-management reconciliation and unity in a particular industry. Based in Crawley, UK, Edwards supplies integrated products for the manufacture of semiconductors, flat panel displays, LEDs, and solar cells and vacuum technology for industrial, scientific, process and R&D applications.
