Edmund Optics Singapore Div. Attains ISO 9001 Certification
BARRINGTON, N.J., June 23, 2006 -- Edmund Optics announced today that its Singapore manufacturing facility recently attained ISO 9001:2000 certification. ISO 9000 standards provide a framework for quality management systems.
"Certification demonstrates the effectiveness of Edmund Optics' ongoing quality assurance program, which is in place at all of its facilities throughout the United States, Europe and Asia," the company said. "The certification process went quickly, indicating the effectiveness of EO's current QMS standards and processes.
Francis Ang, director of the Singapore facility, said "Our certification assures customers of our commitment to quality and continuous improvement, which reduces their total costs while providing great products. We earned our certification quickly because of Edmund Optics' historic commitment to high quality and highly efficient operations. We didn't have to upgrade systems to attain certification, they were already in place."
In addition to ISO 9001 certification, Edmund Optics said it has invested heavily in quality assurance equipment globally, including Zygo GPXi Interferometers, Optikos MTF (modulation transfer function) test systems and Trioptics computerized centering scopes.
