EXFO to Acquire InOpticals

EXFO Inc., a provider of test and service assurance solutions for wire-line and wireless network operators and equipment manufacturers, including those for the installation, management, and maintenance of converged, IP-fixed, and mobile networks, has announced its acquisition of InOpticals Inc. InOpticals is a Taiwan-based provider of ultrahigh-speed test instruments for laboratory and manufacturing markets, including sampling oscilloscopes and bit-error rate testers (BERTs). The company’s product portfolio addresses 400G/800G high-growth sectors, such as silicon photonic-based transceivers, active and passive components, and integrated test systems for R&D and manufacturing use cases.

EXFO will combine InOpticals' solutions with its existing optical test offering(s). EXFO previously acquired Yenista Optics, in October 2017.

The InOpticals acquisition is expected to close by the end of October; EXFO projects it will increase its global test and measurement addressable market by approximately $150 million (U.S.) to more than $1 billion. Financial terms of the transaction, mostly valued in EXFO shares, have not been disclosed.

spectrum analyzers
In optics, spectrum analyzers are instruments used to analyze the spectral characteristics of light emitted or transmitted through optical components, materials, or systems. Spectral analysis: Optical spectrum analyzers measure the intensity of light as a function of wavelength. They provide a detailed spectral plot showing the distribution of light across different wavelengths within a specified range (e.g., visible, infrared). Wavelength range: Optical spectrum analyzers cover a wide...
