SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 17 -- The US Display Consortium (USDC) has been joined by two new members, DuPont Co. and Eastman Kodak Co. These additions raise USDC membership to 16 companies, which is the highest participation level to date for the Consortium -- an increase of more than 56 percent since the group's 1993 inception.According to the USDC, the emergence of plastic electronic display technology is leading designers and OEMs to seek out companies such as DuPont and Kodak to aid in the development of thinner and more durable displays that will consume less power. The USDC expects these displays to be used in a variety of applications, such as transportation, signage and personal communication products. The Consortium also predicted that future displays will be manufactured in a roll-to-roll process, and said its two new member companies have extensive experience with this manufacturing procedure.
