A study by market consultants Frost & Sullivan of San Antonio reports worldwide revenues of $3.8 billion for the laser systems market in 1998. Sales of diode lasers were responsible for nearly half of that total. The communications industry represented the largest segment of end-user consumers of diode laser systems.
