David Hagan will serve as dean of the College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Hagan joined UCF in 1987 and is a founding faculty member of CREOL (Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers). Hagan has served as interim dean since December 2019, and he was previously an associate dean for academic programs. “I am honored to have been chosen to lead the exceptional group of faculty, students, and staff that form CREOL and the College of Optics and Photonics,” Hagan said. “This is an exciting time for UCF as we pursue the goal of becoming a top 50 U.S. public research university. I will make sure that optics and photonics are right up front, leading the charge.” Hagan is a Pegasus Professor, the highest distinction granted to faculty members by the university. He is a fellow of SPIE and OSA and a senior member of the IEEE Photonics Society. He was the founding editor-in-chief of the journal Optical Materials Express, and he is currently executive editor-in-chief of Chinese Optics Letters.
