Optical Metrology Innovation of Cork, Ireland, a manufacturer of photoreflectance spectrometers for front-end silicon and compound semiconductor metrology, appointed Doug J. Dunn to its board. Dunn was president and CEO of ASM Lithography Holding NV until his December 2004 retirement. . . . Kollmorgen Electro-Optical, a Northampton, Mass., manufacturer of submarine periscopes, optronics and masts, as well as weapon systems, electro-optical sights and optical sensor platforms, was awarded a $3.7 million contract for its SeaScout electro-optical surveillance system, which provides 360-degree surveillance with high-resolution color day imaging, multi-field of view night vision, image tracking and a laser rangefinder. The SeaScout is a smaller version of Kollmorgen's MK46 optical system, used on more the 50 US naval platforms. The work will be performed at Kollmorgen's Northampton, Brattleboro, Vt., and Groton, Conn., facilities and is expected to be complete by March 2006. . . . Intematix Corp. of Fremont, Calif., which specializes in next-generation nano, bulk and thin film materials, announced that it will provide its White Lightning Y450/Y460 brand of phosphor to Taiwan's Edison Opto, a high-power LED package manufacturer, for use in a variety of applications for the white LED and solid-state lighting markets.
