Carl Zeiss said it has ramped up production of its recently launched LSM 5 Live confocal laser scanning microscope at its production site in Jena, Germany. The high-speed imaging and fluorescence capabilities of the system enable the visualization of very fast processes in living cells in as little as one millesecond.    . . .    Karl Martinson was named business development manager for defense and aerospace at Janos Technology Inc., a Keene, N.H., precision optics manufacturer. He previously worked in business development at Thermo Opticon Corp., Corning and Research Electro Optics.    . . .    Richard P. Wallace was promoted to president and COO of KLA-Tencor Corp., a San Jose, Calif., provider of yield management and process control technology for the semiconductor manufacturing and related industries. Wallace was formerly executive vice president of the company's Reticle and Photomask Inspection Div., Films and Surface Technology Div. and CTO Software and Customer Group. He joined KLA-Tencor in 1988 as director of applications engineering and later held the positions of executive vice president of the Wafer Inspection Group, vice president of the Lithography Control Group and vice president/general manager and vice president of marketing for the Wafer Inspection Div. Earlier in his career, Wallace was an engineer at Ultratech Stepper and Cypress Semiconductor.
