Cognex Corp., a Natick, Mass., supplier of machine vision systems, announced that the Felix Schoeller Group, a German paper manufacturer, will integrate its SmartView surface inspection system at its manufacturing plants throughout Germany and Canada. The multisystem order is valued at more than $1.8 million and is expected to be installed before the end of this month. Felix Schoeller makes photographic, digital imaging and other specialty papers. The SmartView is a surface inspection system used to automatically detect, identify and visualize defects in paper and other materials. . . . OptiLED, an Irvine, Calif., manufacturer of LED lighting systems, announced it has formed a partnership with Philips-Construlita, a division of Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands, to sell its LED lights in its 55 stores and hundreds of lighting distributors in Mexico. Philips-Construlita will also incorporate OptiLED lamps in its new Terrane line of in-ground and submersible fixtures. . . . Vishay Intertechnology Inc. announced today that Robert A. Freece, executive vice president, investor relations, retired on March 31 after 38 years of service to the company. Freece will remain a consultant to Vishay primarily in the area of investor relations. Freece held the positions of CFO and treasurer for more than 20 years and was also a member of its board. Peter G. Henrici, senior vice president, has taken over all investor relations activities as of April 1. Vishay, based in Malvern, Pa., manufacturers discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors and optoelectronics), integrated circuits and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors and transducers).
