Osram Opto Semiconductors, a San Jose, Calif.-based manufacturer of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for automotive applications, announced it was chosen by Nova Electronics, of Colchester, Conn., to provide the technology for a new line of LED warning signals, the SLWIC3. The signals, the first in a series of slim warning lights to use Osram's high-power TOPLEDs, contain 56 wide-angle, surface-mounted, LEDs in a novel split-array arrangement; the LEDs are packaged in an extremely thin (.343") waterproof enclosure (6.4455" x 2.20") that can be mounted to any surface or retrofitted to existing applications. The warning signals are designed to alert drivers to hazards in any weather conditions.
