Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESI) announced an order from Raytheon Co. for its Model 2700 laser micromachining system. The system was delivered during ESI's fourth quarter, which ended June 1. ESI's model 2700 enables ablation of any shape or pattern in a wide variety of materials. The laser cuts high-precision curves, straight lines and vias in silicon, gallium arsenide, ceramic and sapphire wafers with or without dielectric.
