Daktronics Inc., a South Dakota-based maker of display systems for sports, business and transportation applications, was chosen by Indiana University (IU) to design, build and install an integrated scoring and video display system at Branch McCracken Court at Assembly Hall in time for the Hoosiers' first home basketball game of the upcoming season. IU Sports Properties negotiated the agreement to provide funding for the $2 million system. The 28 x 20-ft display will incorporate full-color LED displays and ProStar VideoPlus technology, which uses red, green and blue (RGB) LED technology to present live and recorded video images, animation and graphics.    . . .    Mickey Reynolds, president of Nextrom (USA) Inc., will leave the company effective Sept. 30. He will continue as a member of the Nextrom (USA) Inc. Board of Directors into 2006. He came to parent company Nextrom Holding SA, a fiber optics manufacturer with headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, in 2001 as vice president of optical fiber equipment and became president of Nextrom (USA) Inc., based in Duluth, Ga., in 2003.    . . .    UMC, a global semiconductor foundry based in Hsinchu, Taiwan, said it has reached a production milestone with the shipment of over 100,000 customer wafers for products using 90-nm process technology. According to UMC, the company has been leading all foundries in total 90-nm wafers shipped as well as overall revenue generated from 90-nm sales. 90-nm customer products being manufactured at UMC including wireless and wired communications, consumer and advanced computing. UMC's 90-nm production takes place at both of its 300-mm fabs and one 200-mm fab, with more than 20 different products being manufactured with UMC's low-k dielectrics.
