CAO Group Inc., a Sandy, Utah-based maker of medical, dental, optoelectronic and solid-state lighting products, has received two certifications from LED manufacturer Luxeon, of San Jose, Calif., for its solid-state lighting expertise in heat management, optical beam shaping and integration design. As a certified Luxeon luminaire manufacturer, CAO is qualified to make and offer warranties on Luxeon-based luminaries, and as a Future Electronics Luxeon Solutions Partner, it is certified to make and guarantee the performance of Luxeon-based lighting components, light engine modules and arrays. CAO Group already uses Luxeon LEDs in products such as its MR16 LED bulbs and PalmLight, a dental curing lamp.    . . .    John Tejada has joined Janos Technology Inc. as an optical designer. Janos, based in Keene, N.H., makes precision infrared optical components, lenses and assemblies. Tejada was formerly a senior optical scientist at Insight Technology Inc., in Londonderry, where he designed and tested lightweight optical eyepieces for night-vision applications. He also led the design of near-infrared object lenses for a variety of military applications. Tejada has also worked for Raytheon Systems, Texas Instruments, Martin Marietta Corp. and Hughes Aircraft. . . .    Pro-Lite Technology LLP, of Cranfield, England, announced that British laser manufacturer Elforlight Ltd. has delivered the first extended coherence length laser for use in the Optical Systems for the Digital Age (OSDA) E-Holocam program. OSDA was launched by the UK Government's Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council in 2000 to encourage optical technology development and support collaboration between industry and academia. E-Holocam is a three-year program started in 2004 to develop an electronic holographic camera, for use in high-resolution imaging undersea and in the air, that is smaller than existing underwater holographic cameras and uses a real-time display. It is a collaboration among the University of Aberdeen, Elforlight Ltd. and CD Ltd., an Aberdeen-based undersea equipment provider. The Elforlight LP laser produces 1 mJ pulsed energy at 532 nm with 4 ns pulses repeated at up to 25 Hz. It was designed to provide a fundamental transverse mode beam and provides a coherence length of about 80 cm.
