IPG Laser GmbH, a Burbach, Germany-based maker of advanced and high-power fiber lasers, announced it has appointed HM Laser, a supplier of materials processing lasers and systems in China, as a distributor of its industrial fiber lasers to Chinese OEMs and systems manufacturers. HM is based in Beijing, where it has a testing, manufacturing and service center. It will offer training and service to small system integrators, set up a research and development center in Beijing for fiber laser application development and offer materials processing testing and support. IPG, a subsidiary of Oxford, Mass.-based IPG Photonics Corp., also announced it has terminated its distribution relationship in China and Hong Kong with Advanced Fiber Resources Holdings. . . . Spectranetics, a Colorado Springs, Colo., maker of excimer laser systems used in cardiovascular procedures, announced today that Bruce E. Ross, executive vice president of customer and product programs, has resigned.
