Stephen-Mark Williams has joined the board of The Crystal Consortium Ltd. (TCC) as sales and marketing director. Glasgow, Scotland-based TCC, a joint venture startup between DERA (now QinetiQ) and the University of Strathclyde, develops synthetic crystals for electronic and optoelectronic applications, including components for fiber optic networks, medical imaging, sonar and vibration and antivibration equipment. QinetiQ is a science and technology venture firm spun off from DERA, the British government's defense research and development organization. . . . Melles Griot has moved the OEM industrial optics portion of its Photonics Components Group from Carlsbad, Calif., to Rochester, N.Y., the site of its Optics Group, which provides optical components, multi-element lenses and contract-manufactured assemblies to global, optics-enabled original equipment manufacturers. The Photonics Components Group in Carlsbad will continue to serve institutional and research market customers. Melles Griot is a supplier of photonics products including optics, opto-mechanical hardware, lasers, instrumentation, machine vision and precision motion control systems.
