DJI, Flir Collaborate to Develop Aerial Thermal-Imaging Technology
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 11, 2015 — DJI has partnered with Flir Systems Inc. of Wilsonville, Ore., to develop unmanned aerial vehicle technology, starting with the aerial thermal-imaging camera Zenmuse XT, for industrial applications.
The Zenmuse XT will integrate a Flir thermal imager — which yields resolutions up to 640 × 512 — with DJI's gimbal-stabilization and Lightbridge video-transmission technology. Using the same gimbal mount as DJI's Zenmuse cameras for filmmaking, the Zenmuse XT will be compatible with the DJI Inspire 1 and Matrice M100 aerial platforms.
Combining DJI's aerial platforms and Flir's thermal-imaging technology expands the uses of aerial systems to provide different types of sensory data essential for firefighting, agriculture and inspection, among other applications, the companies said.
DJI (Dajiang Innovation Technology Inc.) develops and manufactures drone and camera technology for commercial and recreational use.
