Corning Names New CTO

CORNING, N.Y., March 23, 2012 — Corning Inc.’s board of directors will elect Dr. David L. Morse as the company’s executive vice president and chief technology officer at a meeting April 26. Morse will become a member of its management committee when his appointment takes effect May 1.

Morse will succeed Dr. Joseph A. Miller Jr., who will retire on April 30. Miller served 11 years as Corning’s executive VP and CTO.

Having joined the company in 1976 as a composition scientist in glass research, Morse has more than 36 years of experience in Corning’s technology organization. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and director of corporate research for the Science & Technology organization.

Corning develops glass substrates for LCD televisions, computer monitors and laptops; ceramic substrates and filters for mobile emission control systems; optical fibers and cables for telecommunications networks; and optical biosensors for drug discovery.
