Corning Cable Systems of Hickory, N.C., part of Corning Inc.’s telecommunications segment, and Alcatel-Lucent of Paris have signed a memorandum of understanding under which Corning will supply its OptiTap hardened connectors and adapters for use in the French company’s gigabit passive optical network fiber-to-the-home systems. The memorandum outlines the terms of a multiyear agreement to be negotiated and signed by the companies, specifying that Corning will become the exclusive supplier of the devices for the systems. Corning also will collaborate on system testing.
