The Journal of Refractive Surgery has published results that show the Flexivue Microlens corneal inlay from ophthalmic device company Presbia PLC to be effective in treating presbyopia, the age-related loss of near-vision. The results of the 12-month follow-up study showed excellent near-vision sharpness, high patient satisfaction and a high rate of independence from glasses after implantation of the corneal inlay. The miniature lens is implanted in a corneal pocket created by a femtosecond laser. Clinical outcomes of three different techniques of combined cataract surgery and refractive corneal inlay implantation had no apparent differences between them.
