Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft appointed Constantin Häfner executive board member responsible for research and transfer. Häfner currently serves as executive director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT (Fraunhofer ILT) in Aachen, Germany. Häfner previously led the Advanced Photon Technologies program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he worked on the development of next-generation, high-average power petawatt laser systems. Häfner, who heads the expert commission on laser fusion appointed by Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is a fellow of Optica and holds a professorship for laser technology at RWTH Aachen University.
