SALEM, N.H., Sept. 12 -- Confluent Photonics Corp., a provider of optical transport solutions including the Lightchip family of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) products for CATV and telecommunications carriers, announced the closing of its $3 million Series B financing. InnoCal Venture Capital, Rustic Canyon Ventures and INVESCO Private Capital participated in the round. These firms also participated in the company's $11 million Series A financing in December 2000.
"With this additional funding, we have the resources to sustain the growth of our current business and to continue development of new subsystem products and optical system solutions to meet our customers' needs," said Nicholas P. Economou, Confluent Photonics' CEO.
Confluent Photonics was established in December 2000 as a developer of planar waveguide optical components based on silicon-on-insulator semiconductor fabrication techniques. In 2002, it added the Lightchip DWDM product line through the acquisition of the business assets and development team of Lightchip Inc.
