Coherent Appoints Executive VP: People in the News: 01/18/23

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 18, 2023 — Coherent Corp. named Beck Mason executive vice president of telecommunications. Mason will lead the telecommunications business unit within the company’s networking segment. He joins Coherent from Lumentum, where he served as senior vice president and general manager of the telecom transmission business for the past four years. Mason joined Lumentum in 2018 through its acquisition of Oclaro, where he was president of the integrated photonics business. Prior to Oclaro, Mason held leadership positions at JDSU Collinear, Finisar, Agere Systems, and Lucent Technologies Bell Labs.

NIJMEGEN, Netherlands — Chip Integration Technology Center (CITC) appointed Mark Luke Farrugia general manager. As of March 1, Farrugia will take over the responsibilities from interim general manager Jeroen van den Brand. Farrugia has an extensive background in the semiconductor backend industry. Prior to this appointment, he worked for almost 16 years at NXP Semiconductors and most recently as technical director at Nexperia Semiconductors.

GLASGOW, Scotland — Vector Photonics named Peter Linton factory applications engineer. Linton will provide a technical interface between the company’s global network equipment manufacturer customers and its R&D team in Glasgow.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Optris IR Sensing named Paul Czerepuszko as its successor to Thomas Scanlon, the company’s U.S. president and general manager. Czerepuszko has worked with Scanlon for more than 25 years in the infrared industry. He previously spent 25 years at FLIR, during which time he developed the automation markets for FLIR’s line of infrared cameras.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Telecom technology company Skyloom named Eric Moltzau chief commercial officer and Catharine Parnell as counsel. Their hirings are in line with a strategy whereby Skyloom seeks to double its team by the end of the year. Moltzau’s previous experience includes leadership roles at Eutelsat and Intelsat in the areas of corporate strategy, business and product development, and government affairs, as well as senior positions in the U.S. Air Force and national security space systems development and operations. Parnell has more than 10 years of experience as an attorney with the U.S. government.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Silicon photonics company OpenLight appointed Adam Carter CEO. Carter has more than 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including a variety of roles in sales, marketing, and general management in networking, optical communications systems, and optical components and modules markets. Carter previously served as chief commercial officer at Foxconn Interconnect and Oclaro.

STERLING, Mass. — Innofiber, a fiber optic cable and photonics solutions manufacturer, named Dustin Gorman CEO. He joins Innofiber from Prodrive Technologies, a manufacturer of high-tech electronics, software, and mechatronic products and systems, where he served as general manager for the company’s North American division. Prior to Prodrive, Gorman spent more than nine years at Analogic, a health care and security technology company, as director of business development and application engineer.

WALLINGFORD, Conn. — Technology company Amphenol Corp. added Prahlad Singh to its board of directors. Singh is president and CEO of PerkinElmer and also serves as a member of its board. Singh previously served as general manager at GE HealthCare and has held senior executive level roles in strategy, business development, and mergers and acquisitions at GE HealthCare and Philips Healthcare.

ENSCHEDE, Netherlands — Quix Quantum named Andrew Wallace chairman of its supervisory board. Wallace has held global commercial and marketing roles in electronics and telecoms at Eutelsat Communications SA and Pace plc (Arris). Until 2022 he was CEO of Pyreos, a thin-film photonics business sold to Broadcom.
