The Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, N.Y., have signed an agreement to collaborate on research in several areas of biomedicine, including nanomedicine, nanobiomaterials, smart orthopedic implants, biomolecular imaging, biocomputation and bioinformatics, biomicroelectromechanical systems and drug delivery. The institutes will develop research proposals, secure funding from federal and nonfederal sources, establish a visiting scientist program, initiate summer internship programs for graduate and undergraduate students, host research retreats, fund a seed grant program, offer seminars and workshops, and facilitate proposals and briefings to the National Institutes of Health.
