Casper Promoted to CEO at Thermo

Laboratory equipment provider Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. of Waltham, Mass., announced that Executive Vice President and COO Marc N. Casper has been promoted to president and CEO, effective Oct. 15. He replaces Marijn E. Dekkers, who resigned to become COO of Germany-based conglomerate Bayer AG. Casper has held his current position since May 2008. Before that, he served as president of Thermo Fisher's analytical technologies businesses and, and prior to that, president of Thermo Electron's Life and Laboratory Sciences sector. He has also been CEO of Kendro Laboratory Products, president-Americas for Dade Behring Inc. and a strategy consultant with Bain & Co. Casper earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in economics from Wesleyan University.
