Cambridge Lasers Laboratories Inc. of Fremont, Calif., has bought a major portion of the assets of Lexel Lasers Inc., also of Fremont, including the parts inventory, most of the manufacturing equipment and all of the intellectual property. The acquisition will increase Cambridge Laser's capacity to volume-manufacture replacement tubes for Lexel Lasers and to expand its service offerings to include replacement optics, second-harmonic-generation crystals and mounts, system optimization and testing, and extended warranties. Cambridge Lasers provides service to ion-laser users who no longer receive support from the original manufacturer.
