RIVERSIDE, Calif., Aug. 6, 2014 — A research team of University of California, Riverside engineers was awarded a $1.7 million grant from the National Science Foundation to characterize, analyze and synthesize ultrathin film materials.
The project will focus on practical applications of van der Waals materials in electronic switches, optical detectors, low-power information processing and direct energy conversion.
The NSF funding was awarded via the Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI-2014) program.
