CVI Melles Griot Buys Coherent Subsidiary

CVI Melles Griot has purchased Coherent Imaging Optics Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Coherent Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif. The acquired company is a supplier of infrared optical components for thermal imaging and other electro-optic systems. CVI Laser LLC of Albuquerque, N.M., bought the Melles Griot Corp. earlier this year and changed its company name to CVI Melles Griot. CVI also has acquired several other companies in the US and Europe in recent years. The company said that it is focusing on expanding its product line, increasing its capabilities and addressing growing market opportunities.
