CEA-Leti announced plans to build a quantum photonics platform to develop technologies for industries requiring ultrasecure data transmission. The project is funded by Carnot, a French multidisciplinary network.
The three-year project aims to develop silicon photonics circuits capable of generating and manipulating single photons with linear optical components such as slow and rapid phase shifters, and detect them with superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors.
CEA-Leti has previously demonstrated entangled photon pairs on its silicon photonics platform, as well as other techniques and technologies that address the challenges of single-photon detection.
