OVERLAND PARK, Kan., April 1 -- Bushnell Performance Optics has filed a lawsuit in the District Court of Johnson County alleging breach of contract by Laser Technology Inc. (LTI), of Englewood, Colo., which designs and manufactures laser-based speed and distance measuring instruments.
Bushnell alleges that LTI has not fulfilled its contractual obligations to provide technical support for the development of new and existing rangefinder products. In addition, the lawsuit claims a breach of contract due to LTI's unauthorized surcharge on a key technology component. Bushnell is suing for more than $350,000 in compensatory damages.
Bushnell and LTI initiated their technology partnership in 1994. Bushnell said it has developed a loyal following and a leading market position for the Bushnell Yardage Pro laser rangefinder line since that time, and that its success with this product line has provided LTI with annual royalties exceeding $1 million during 2001, separate from the $350,000 over charges.
