Bruker Makes Acquisitions; LeddarTech Added to Nasdaq: Week in Brief: 1/5/24

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Jan. 5, 2024 — Bruker acquired Canadian Raman instruments specialist Tornado Spectral Systems for an undisclosed sum. Tornado's technology offerings support pharma and biotech quality control applications. The acquisition, which bolsters Bruker's biopharma PAT portfolio, comes after Bruker acquired high-end scanning transmission electron microscopes developer Nion in a separate deal earlier in the week.

QUEBEC CITY — Automotive software company LeddarTech has become a publicly traded company after completing a business combination with special-purpose acquisition company Prospector Capital Corp. LeddarTech develops AI-based low-level sensor fusion and perception software technology for advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving.
 
VELDHOVEN, The Netherlands — ASML announced the revocation of its license for the shipment of its NXT:2050i and NXT:2100i lithography systems by the Dutch government. The partial revocation will affect a small number of the company’s Chinese customers, ASML said. The company does not expect the revocation or the latest U.S. export control restrictions to have a material effect on its financial outlook.

GALWAY, Ireland — Satellite communications and photonics equipment provider Mbryonics was selected by DARPA to develop the optical terminal as part of the Space-Based Adaptive Communications Node (Space-BACN) program. The goal of Space-BACN is to create a reconfigurable, multi-protocol intersatellite optical communications terminal that is low in size, weight, and power and able to connect heterogeneous constellations that operate on different optical intersatellite link specifications that otherwise would not be able to communicate.

LES ULIS, France — Opton Laser International signed a production agreement with tunable lasers company MOGLabs. MOGLabs produces tunable lasers for quantum physics laboratories and spectroscopy applications including self-aligning tunable lasers, Littrow cavity tunable lasers, and injection-locked amplifiers.

TORONTO — Shaoxing ZKTel Equipment Co., a supplier of optical computer equipment, such as modules and transceivers, has partnered with POET Technology Inc. The companies have been collaborating to develop a 100G CWDM4 optical transceiver module to suit ZKTel's specifications. ZKTel intends to ramp to volume production in the second half of 2024.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Space and data-as-a-service company Sidus Space was granted a Tier 1 remote sensing license by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The license includes the ability to include panchromatic (PAN) and shortwave-infrared (SWIR) imaging capabilities in Sidus' upcoming LizzieSat satellite scheduled for launch in March 2024, as well as subsequent LizzieSat satellites.

BEDFORD, Mass. — Novanta completed its acquisition of Motion Solutions, a supplier of precision motion subsystems and components largely centered on medical and life sciences applications.

CAMPBELL, Calif. — Metal additive manufacturing technology company Velo3D received notification by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that it is not in compliance with rule 802.01C of the NYSE’s Listed Company Manual relating to the minimum average closing price of the company’s common stock required over a consecutive 30 trading-day period. The company has a six-month cure period to regain compliance with the rule, during which time the company's stock will remain listed on the NYSE, subject to compliance with other continued listing requirements.
