Brazil Retains Canadian Company for UV Water Treatment

LONDON, Ontario, Dec. 17 -- Trojan Technologies Inc. announced it has been awarded a contract for approximately $600,000 to supply ultraviolet (UV) systems to four wastewater plants in the state of Espirito Santo, Brazil. Scheduled to be operating early next year, the facilities will treat a total of 32 million gallons (121,000 cubic meters) of water a day.

Trojan designs, manufactures and sells UV systems for municipal wastewater and drinking water facilities and for the industrial, commercial and residential markets. The company also provides UV treatment to remove toxic chemicals from water.

While Trojan has been active in Brazil for the past five years, these contracts represent a significant increase in the company's business in the region, the company said. Trojan UV equipment is now installed in 10 wastewater plants in Brazil.

"With the adoption of more stringent regulations governing wastewater treatment, Brazil represents enormous opportunity for Trojan in the future," said Trojan President and CEO Allan Bulckaert.

A group of Brazilian engineers and officials recently visited Trojan's research, engineering and manufacturing facilities in Ontario as part of a tour organized by the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.

Trojan also announced it was awarded contracts worth a total of $21.2 million for municipal wastewater and drinking water UV disinfection systems during the three-month period ending Nov. 30.
