Semiconductor and electromechanical components distributor Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia, a division of Phoenix-based Avnet Inc., announced today it has appointed Peter Wong as regional president of its Avnet China business. An electronics industry veteran with more than 20 years experience, Wong succeeds current president Raymond Leung, who is leaving to pursue other interests. Wong originally joined Singapore-based Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia in February 2006 as vice president of strategic planning and was also acting regional president of the South Asia region. Prior to joining Avnet, Wong ran his own consultancy service for electronics companies. He has also served as vice president, greater China sales, and Asia Pacific distribution channel management at ON Semiconductor. In addition, he held various sales and distribution marketing positions with Motorola for the Asia Pacific region.
