Graz, Austria-based Alicona GmbH has opened an office in Rochester, N.Y., with plans to continue the growth in the US that it has experienced in Europe. The company's MeX software for scanning electron microscopes and InfiniteFocus microscopes and software for light microscopy enable 3-D reconstruction, visualization and measurement of submicron surface structures. Ludwig Eckl, former international marketing manager for aquinto AG in Berlin, will head the Alicona Corp. office. The company serves businesses in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, materials research and nanotechnology fields.
