Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. of Littleton, Colo., has been awarded the second phase of the US Air Force’s high-efficiency solar cell program. The company expects the contract’s value to be approximately $750,000, and the award will fund the continued development of a flexible thin-film tandem solar cell with target photovoltaic conversion efficiencies of 20 percent.
