Army Orders DRS Infrared Detector Cooler Assemblies

PARSIPPANY, N.J., April 25 -- DRS Technologies Inc. said it received a new order from the US Army to produce more than 400 long-life, one-watt linear cooler assemblies, which are critical components of the company's standard advanced Dewar assembly type II (SADA II).

SADA II is also used in DRS's B-Kit thermal imaging systems, which support the Army's horizontal technology integration program. The B-Kit provides infrared imaging capabilities for several ground-based military platforms, including the M1A2 Abrams and M2A3 Bradley vehicles.

The $2.6 million order was awarded to DRS by the Army's communications-electronics command (CECOM) in Fort Monmouth, N.J., and was the result of the exercise of options on an existing multiyear contract. Work for this order will be accomplished by DRS's Infrared Technologies unit in Dallas. This award extends product deliveries through July 2003.
