JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 7, 2006 -- Armor Holdings Inc., a manufacturer of armored vehicles and other security products, announced today it is acquiring forensic optical equipment maker Swiss-Photonics AG. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Swiss-Photonics, through its trade name, Projectina, manufactures specialized equipment used to verify document authenticity and detect counterfeit currency and makes crime lab microscopes used to evaluate ballistics and bullet casings. Projectina also develops optical subsystems for electronic OEMs. Based in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, and founded in 1946, Projectina serves the forensics, homeland security and crime scene markets predominantly in Europe and Asia. The company generated revenue of approximately $9.2 million in 2005, Armor Holdings said in a statement.
Armor Holdings President Robert R. Schiller said in the statement that the company expects to increase Projectina's business in the US while expanding its own presence in Europe and Asia.
