American Polarizers Expand Laser Cutting Capabilities

READING, Pa., April 6, 2017 — Polarized filter manufacturer American Polarizers Inc. has expanded its precision laser cutting capabilities with the addition of a high-accuracy laser cutting machine.

All production is in-house, facilitating cost control and compressing the production cycle to meet tight deadlines.

The new laser cutting machine permits the holding of very tight tolerances when cutting intricate shapes. It generates little damage to the edge of the polarizing substrate, with a .001-in. beam diameter that assures smooth, accurate cutting on both thin and thick materials. Cutting accuracy is held to within +/− 0.003, and customers may specify sizes as large as 40 × 24 in.

American Polarizers aims to position itself as the supplier of choice for standard and custom manufactured linear and circular polarized film, acrylic and glass parts.

“The new laser cutting machine represents a major investment and commitment to our strategic plan,” said Jeff Snyder, president of American Polarizers. “We now have six laser cutters as well as two waterjet cutting machines. With our new equipment, we can meet production requirements for specially shaped polarizing filters better and faster than any other supplier out there.”
