Agilent Technologies will donate equipment valued at $1 million to Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif., to create an engineering science laboratory. Equipment will include optical spectrum, lightwave component and digital communications analyzers as well as electronic test and measurement instruments. It will be used by students in the university's master's program in computer and engineering science and in its undergraduate program in applied physics. The graduate program was selected because of its emphasis on theory and hands-on cooperative learning experiences. Together with the laboratory, it should generate collaborative research and teaching opportunities between the university and Agilent.
