Woburn, Mass.-based Aegis Semiconductor, a supplier of wavelength monitoring and control solutions, has named Jeffrey D. Farmer as its president and CEO. Farmer, who will also be a board member, succeeds Donald Bossi, who has served as CEO since February 2005 and who will continue on with the company as a strategic advisor and board member. Prior to joining Aegis Semiconductor, Farmer served as CEO of Continuum Photonics and, after its merger with Polatis Ltd. last August, as vice president of global sales at Polatis Inc. Farmer has served as CEO of other venture-backed communications companies and in general management, marketing, engineering and operations positions in the optical components, communications, aerospace and military markets.
