Optics and photonics products maker CVI Melles Griot announced Wednesday that Lynore Abbott has been appointed managing director of the Greater China region and will manage its Singapore plant to facilitate the execution of the company's market development plan in the region. "Lynore Abbott has demonstrated strong leadership skills in rebranding the company (following the acquisition of Melles Griot by CVI Laser in 2007), reconciling product lines and catalog offerings, and optimizing the marketing communications department," said CVI Melles Griot CEO Stuart Schoenmann. "She has been successful in incorporating our European staff into our product management and marketing communications strategies, essentially creating virtual teams over several time zones and cultures." Abbott also led the effort to consolidate the company's product catalog, consolidated several Web sites and built brand awareness for the company, which supplies products including optical components and systems, lasers, motion-control systems, laser measurement instrumentation and optomechanical hardware to the semiconductor, biotech, industrial, commercial, aerospace and research industries from its eight manufacturing sites in five countries. “The Greater China region is very important to our growth in the next decade. Aligning its reporting structure directly into the corporate offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will greatly benefit our customers in this region," Schoenmann said. "CVI Melles Griot Singapore will now enjoy a closer relationship to the corporate management group, which will facilitate marketing efforts, customer relationship management and execution of a region-specific growth strategy.” Abbott will take on her new responsibilities while continuing in her position as director of marketing in the optics and photonics products group, the company said.
