3D Printing Firm Prodways Acquires Exceltec for Polymer Laser Sintering Materials

Prodways, a subsidiary of Groupe Gorgé, has acquired Exceltec SARL of Lyon, a company specializing in the development and distribution of polymer materials for industrial 3D printing using selective laser sintering.

Exceltec develops materials for markets such as aeronautics, military and the medical sector, and also offers a rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing consulting program for international groups and service bureau companies.

Prodway will integrate Exceltec's full range of polymer sintering powders into its materials offerings for the ProMaker P series of 3D printers. Exceltec will retain its structure and brand, and will extend the number of grades and polymers offered. Its production capacity and international representation will also be increased.

Established in 1990, Group Gorgé is an industrial group with expertise in smart safety systems, protection in nuclear environments, industrial projects and services, and 3D printing.

3d printing
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing (AM), is a manufacturing process that builds three-dimensional objects layer by layer from a digital model. This technology allows the creation of complex and customized structures that would be challenging or impossible with traditional manufacturing methods. The process typically involves the following key steps: Digital design: A three-dimensional digital model of the object is created using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This...
laser sintering
Laser sintering is an additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing technology that involves using a laser to selectively fuse powdered materials, typically polymers or metals, layer by layer, to create three-dimensional objects. The process is often referred to as selective laser sintering (SLS) and is commonly used in the production of functional prototypes, end-use parts, and complex geometries. Key features of laser sintering include: Powder bed: The process starts with a thin layer of...
