Semiconductor Laser Settles Dispute

Semiconductor Laser International Corp. of Binghamton, N.Y., has announced that it has reached a settlement in a lawsuit against Rocky Mountain Instrument Co. and its subsidiary, Laser Marking Technologies LLC, both of Lafayette, Colo. According to Semiconductor Laser, the two companies have agreed to make payments in exchange for the dismissal of all claims against them.

The suit originated in a 1998 dispute over a shipment of laser diodes. Claiming that some of Semiconductor Laser's diodes were defective, Rocky Mountain withheld more than $450,000 in payment after canceling the remainder of the 500-unit order.

Don Michael, sales and marketing manager at Laser Marking, declined to comment.
