Raytheon Supports Sensing Center
Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., has pledged $1.2 million to the Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Sensors at
Northeastern University in Boston.
The money will help to fund curriculum development on basic engineering principles and technology development. Program elements will include internships, laboratories, interdisciplinary courses and design competitions.
The
National Science Foundation established the center last year to unite researchers from Northeastern,
Boston University,
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., the
University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez, and four affiliates,
Massachusetts General Hospital and
Brigham and Women's Hospital, both in Boston,
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif., and
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts.
