TroGroup Acquires Luxinar
Austria-based TroGroup has acquired Luxinar Ltd., the U.K.-based manufacturer of CO
2 and ultrashort pulse laser sources. The acquisition adds to TroGroup’s existing portfolio of laser companies, following its
2022 acquisition of InnoLas Photonics, which TroGroup subsequently merged with U.S. subsidiary Iradion Laser Inc.
“Effective immediately, Iradion can offer its customers a complete portfolio in the field of CO
2 laser sources, encompassing a variety of lasers with different technologies, power levels, wavelengths, and pulse durations,” said TroGroup CEO Bernd Badurek.
Luxinar's catalog of laser sources spans offerings with power levels up to 1000 W, and the company has been active in this laser technology area for more 25 years. Recently, the company expanded its product range to include femtosecond sources. With sales subsidiaries in five countries (Germany, Italy, USA, China, South Korea) and a global dealer network, Luxinar serves customers in the semiconductor industry, electronics manufacturing, packaging and textile industries, automotive industry, medical technology, and many other industrial sectors. The company employs around 200 staff at six locations worldwide.
TroGroup's development of a laser sources business sector began with its acquisition of Iradion Laser and continued with its purchase of InnoLas. At the beginning of 2023, TroGroup's laser sources business was organizationally separated from its sister company, Trotec, and has since operated under the name Iradion.
With the acquisition of Luxinar, the division significantly increases its revenue and workforce. The product range is being expanded to a broader base in a future-oriented high-tech sector. The laser sources now included in Iradion's portfolio enable applications such as marking, engraving, cutting, drilling, and joining on a variety of materials including technical ceramics, glass, textiles, paper, metal, plastic, and rubber.
