Semiconductor Metrology Company Wooptix Closes $11M Series B
Semiconductor metrology company Wooptix has closed a €10 million ($11 million) Series B financing round. The equity financing, as well as a €2.5 million grant from the European Innovation Council Accelerator Program, supports Wooptix’s product introduction and future work in the manufacturing, delivery, and installation of three semiconductor metrology tools in Japan, the U.S., and the Netherlands.
Wooptix, based in Spain and San Francisco, is focused on commercializing semiconductor metrology equipment incorporating wavefront phase imaging with its Phemet system. The company's existing light field and wavefront phase imaging platform is designed to acquire all information about the light using a single lens utilizing the full sensor resolution. The Phemet system measures silicon wafer warpage and enables blank and patterned wafer-shape measurement in less time and with higher resolution than current systems being used in the industry, according to the company.
Wooptix added that it intends to pursue the automation of Phemet, and to integrate it into existing semiconductor equipment from tool vendors. Wooptix's own fully automated fab tool is expected in 2024.
